The Mischievous Brain !

I was watching a movie last night , it was called The Road Within , with my wife and wondered really strongly at the power and deceitful nature of the brain . The movie itself was very entertaining , and the performances were excellent . In a nutshell it was about one guy with tourette's , another guy who has o.c.d., and a girl who is anorexic . All thrown together inside a care facility for difficult disorders . While entertaining , it was also so very sad and heartwarming , but that's not the point I am trying to make here . These were real , well investigated portrayals of brain disorders , how they occur and finding if at all a reason for their existence . I won't spoil it for you if you decide to watch the movie , but I will highly recommend it .
That said , I go back to my statement about the brain being wonderful , and its deceitful nature . The thing about the brain is that it has the power to calm you down , but Christ it also has the almighty power to wind you up . It has the power to create jealousy where there is no reason for it . It has the capacity to make black seem agonisingly white . It tells you its alright to proceed , when another looking on sees the obvious dangers of continuing .. Its a deceitful and at times untrustworthy piece of machinery . But what really makes it wonderful is the fact that if you have control of yourself , its powers and possibilities are endless . Look at Albert Einstein , Galileo , Leonardo Da Vinci , but to name a few . But these geniuses are bound to have had their demons too , with the contribution of a deceitful brain .
You can be alone in your thinking , when out of nowhere your brain starts being mischievous . It starts behaving oddly , and you can't quite put your finger on it .Its working out all the things thats going to happen to you before you've even risen to the day . I am sure you have felt that at some stage ? It races on without you , at a speed that's hard to keep up with , and by the time you get to sit down in the evening you're so exhausted you just want to say slow the f... down .You'd like to think that your brain is at your beck and call , but if you really consider it , it happens to be the other way round . You have no control over your brain , it controls you ! And it always will , whether you like it or not .
So the next time you decide to be hard on yourself , take it easy , tomorrows another day . Your brain is not going anywhere , and maybe just maybe , the journeys it takes you on , will be filled with wonder and amazement . Let it be your friend , not your enemy . Don't fight with it , its there to help you , but beware of its mischievousness !
