Taking Care of Business !
My wife was speaking to her wonderful aunt who lives near London earlier on . Now to know scattiness is to know this woman . She is the ultimate scatterbrain , but a more kind and loving person you just wont meet . She is coming up to her eightieth birthday soon but she is as strong in character and body as she ever has been .
Unfortunately her husband of many many years is not at all well at the moment , so much so recovery from this illness is practically nil . This woman has committed herself as always to his welfare and upkeep as she always has . When it comes to him being looked after there is no one who could do better .His doctor advised on having him sent to hospital so they could look after him there , she declined the invitation as did he , explaining and asking what is it they could do for him that I can't ? The doctor was very understanding of her honesty and thanked her for it .
Now at times like this , family tend to gather round and give comfort and support to the mother as is normal . There will be always some who were maybe a little closer than someone else to him . But then there is always one , who for whatever reason decides that being part of the comforting group is not in their best interest . Now that's ok too , because nobody knows the history of any given situation , especially where family is concerned . The others will always find it difficult to understand such behaviour , but in this case I am sure he probably has his reasons .
If you know me from previous blogs , you will understand I have a particularly good understanding of family and the lack of involvement by family members . But in this particular case I just hope the person involved does not leave himself lost without having made peace with his father . Maybe he doesn't want to , and I can understand that too . But in finally opening himself to the possibility of seeing his father before he departs this life , wouldn't it be better that he let him go with a memory of loss and not regret ?
