You Will Survive !
Will you survive the holiday season without witnessing a complete meltdown or someone else's ? Have you seen the signs of this meltdown , or are you experiencing the tell tale signs yourself ? Either way if you are even considering whether you are or not , chances are you've probably already begun . Now don't blame someone else for this , don't even imagine that you were somehow roped in to doing these things , because of some legendary custom . The fact is you are a member of the Christmas Meltdown Club . There are millions of members throughout the world , and they have meltdowns in all different languages . Its an International Club with no borders , and no real rules to speak of , Anything goes in the pursuit of Christmas meltdown , with the majority of members parents .
This is not a club you can retire from , you cannot pass over your membership to someone else , it is a membership requiring only that you admit to yourself of said meltdown . You see some people can be unaware of their membership , and in fact will deny membership if asked about it . People can be very funny talking about their private battles with this addiction , this addiction can occur anytime , but mostly rears its ugly head normally 2-3 months before Christmas , every year !
They in support of their children , put up decorations and trees in some cases October , but they're the hard core end . Most of the others start early November and leave them up till end of January . I know its hard for them dealing with this terrible addiction , I've seen grown men & women cry simply because Frozen Elsa was sold out in their local toy store
. Your heart goes out to them , and its so difficult trying to find a solution to their problem , especially when no one will admit to it .
What I will say though is , there will come a day when your addiction no longer has the pull on you it has now . It will get better , but you have to be patient , its not going to go away overnight . Normally you're talking anything between 12 - 16 years duration , so if you think now that you're children are maybe eight years old that its going to end sometime soon , think again , these sort of addictions will be with you for the long haul .
All I will say now in conclusion is , I was that addict , I was that parent queuing in line for that special gift . I survived just like I know you all will . Just have faith in yourself , you will survive !
