A Book of Life !
Brunei is a tiny country on the island of Borneo , surrounded by Malaysia and the South China Sea . Although an Islamic country , The Royal Brunei Airlines gives equal opportunity to women when it comes to flying their Airlines from country to country . So then why do you think when it comes to landing in other countries , especially Islamic countries , does it make headlines in the news ?
Well let me enlighten you just a little . Having a complete female crew who commanded a plane , and landed it safely , as safely as a male crew , they suddenly arrived in a country where it is forbidden according to religious people , for that same woman who landed the plane , to drive a car . It is not against the law per say , but the driving of cars in Saudi Arabia by women is completely frowned upon .
Saudi Arabia , known as the birthplace of Islam , Has had its ups and downs in recent years , and is not exactly merciful when it comes to dealing out law breaking sentences . In fact the punishments dealt out have been described as brutal , inhumane , and savage .
I look upon the freedom the ladies in Brunei have , compared to other Islamic countries , and I ask myself . " How can Islamic Laws and traditions differ so much from country to country " ? Why is there so much argument over interpretation ? Why does certain elements of Islam deem it necessary to be different in their views compared to the majority of Islam who look upon the Koran as a book of Life , rather than a book of death ?
The idea that women aren't allowed to drive cars , and yet are allowed to fly planes in and out of Saudi seems a little hypocritical to me . But then who said religious understanding and its laws was ever about equality . Women being the mothers of the universe , and being the mother of earth , should be respected globally for their patience at a time when it is tested beyond credibility , and tested beyond endurance .
