Deirdre and Christina |
I had the pleasure of watching a movie about the life of a certain Irish lady the other night . The lady in question was Christina Noble . She was born in Dublin in 1944 , and suffered a dreadful childhood as a result of her poverty stricken family and the hard times she and her siblings had to endure . But throughout her childhood she was a shining light in an era that was so full of darkness and neglect . Suffice to say she grew up not without her upbringing being and having a huge influence on who she would become . She would find solace and comfort in her determination to bring her sort of help and aid to the poor unfortunate children in Vietnam .
I personally had the pleasure of meeting Christina many years ago at a charity event that was put on in the Tivoli Theatre in Francis Street Dublin . I was completely taken by her . Her humility and strength were just two of her characteristics that was evident from get go . Not one to shy away from her supporters , she actually welcomed people who just wanted to wish her well and shake her hand . What a wonderful selfless woman I met that day .

I wont say anything about the movie " Noble " , only to recommend you go see it . Deirdre O'Kane is wonderful in the lead role , and watch out for a Gloria Cramer Curtis as the young Christina , her performance is nothing short of breathtaking . All in all a movie worth seeing , giving you an insight into the Christina Noble life story and how she fell in love with
the people of Vietnam but most of all the children of Vietnam .
