Poor Lost Souls !
I have just been reading the usual shit as you do on the internet media pages . Donald Trump's inauguration was pretty trendy . Riots in D.C . and just because they don't like what the man stands for . Though to be honest we the people of Ireland haven't shown great wisdom in the choosing of who we have elected have we ? How , after all of the shite Fine Gael and Fianna Fail have put us through over the last God knows how many years , we elect the same shitebags only to complain about it again and again . So don't think we are any different than those strange people across the pond . If anything we're a lot worse . We just keep on making the same decisions leading to the same mistakes , leading to the same arguments . But that is not the reason I am writing this piece . Something else hit me full in the face today as I became aware of something so tragic that it just has to be mentioned .
In the last SEVEN days ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX PEOPLE HAVE COMMITTED SUICIDE IN IRELAND ! YES ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY SIX . What an appalling statistic that is .There are one hundred and twenty six families out there grieving over someone lost for whatever reason over the last seven days .
It's so difficult even to comment on this . When told of this dreadful news today , all I felt was shock . Sadness , knowing so many families are having to come to terms with the devastating consequences of a loved one taking their own life .
What happens now will be a blame game . Everyone will feel that they should have seen the signs . Maybe they should have listened a bit longer , or taken more interest in the poor victim . But all I will say , and so as not to appear uncharitable or uncaring , is that no matter what you might have tried , and no matter how long you stayed , if this is what they really wanted to do , there is nothing in the world that could have prevented it . This is the sad sad truth .
There will probably be calls for all sort of agencies to be made available to people who are quite clearly suffering . And yes that will help many of those poor people who might be at risk . But as we all know , when someone sets their mind to something , sometimes nothing , and I mean nothing can prevent the inevitable .
The 126 are asleep now , and whatever pain they may have been going through is finally gone . Alas and unfortunately , for the remaining families of these poor souls , their pain and suffering is only beginning
