Being a little bit of a movie buff , I was really saddened today when hearing of the passing of the comedic genius that was Gene Wilder . Born Jerome Silberman in 1933 , he died today having suffered from Alzheimer's for some years .

In 1967 I remember going to the cinema to see the movie Bonnie & Clyde with Warren Beatty , Faye Dunaway , Gene Hackman , and the very very new Gene Wilder . From get go you couldn't be anything but impressed with his stage presence . Though it was a small part , he took the proverbial bull by the horns and made himself an act to be reckoned with . He would go on and make some other serious movies , but he really excelled when it came to comedy .

| Young Frankenstein |
In 1968 having noticed that he had suddenly shared top bill with Zero Mostel in a movie called " The Producers " directed by another legend Mr. Mel Brooks , I decided I would go and see the movie . Not having heard of any of the other actors involved in the movie , I really didn't know what to expect . But true to form Mr Wilder and Co. just blew me and my reservations away . That movie , even having seen most of his other efforts , remains to this day my favourite Gene Wilder movie .

I know that is a difficult thing to choose , as he has made some wonderful movies . And like everything else , you will have your favourite too . Young Frankenstein , Blazing Saddles , Hanky Panky when he starred with his late wife Gilda Radner . And not forgetting all of the movies he shared with the one and only Richard Pryor . His C.V. of movies just happens to be a list of true treasures .
Having given us so much happiness and joy through your movies . I would personally like to thank you Mr. Wilder for making my life so much happier for your presence with your comedic gift , and your ease of ability to entertain . You're the type of entertainer that comes round rather too infrequently .You belong to a not too long list of genius's when it comes to comedy and its delivery . Gene Wilder , you will be sadly missed . R.I.P .
