Zadar , Croatia , A Little Piece of Heaven !

Its important to keep some things private don't you think ? I mean you can't be sharing every little thing you do in your life on social media or anywhere else for that matter . Some things you just have to keep to yourself and store them away in some secret little place that you call safety . Safe from prying eyes , safe from the criticism of friends and family , and safe for you to visit when you decide you want to . With that in mind let me share with you , and I know you won't tell anyone , a journey that promised so much , and delivered so much more .
Ten days ago my wife and I went on holiday to a country I heard so much about but was always strangely reluctant to visit . I can't really explain the reason why I was reluctant to visit this country , but just accept the fact that it was never ever on my to go list .
The country in question was Croatia . Zadar to be precise was the area we visited . Maybe because of that terrible war during the 90's that seen the re-establishment of the six countries that formed Yugoslavia , Slovenia , Croatia , Bosnia Herzegovina ,Serbia , Montenegro and finally Macedonia .was the reason for my reluctance . When you think about all of the bad history and killing these countries endured , its hard to try and manufacture some reason why you should want to visit somewhere like this . But that's exactly what we did , and believe me its an experience of beauty I will never forget .
From the moment we arrived in Zadar , we were both made to feel incredibly welcome . We felt no hidden feelings of resentment , maybe . The arms of Croatia opened wide and wrapped themselves round the both of us like a warm comfortable blanket . There are no words to express the feeling of awe we experienced , and the complete feeling of peace and the sense of being at the center of something so civilized and special , that it kinda stopped us dead in our tracks . It's not something that is easily described , it's more a feeling that slowly smothers you in a way that is both welcoming and so difficult to resist .
There's this sense of being in the heart of a truly cosmopolitan city that is hard to deny or ignore . The style is pure bohemian , the air is free of fumes and full of the smells of a city that is heavily influenced by Italy . The restaurants are mostly open air and so so romantic . You can have a piano player playing such beautiful music as you dine to your hearts content along a not too wide alleyway that is paved with ancient cobblestones shining in the moonlight . This is a side to dining and going out we have never experienced , and in all honesty it is a habit that could be easily worth forming .
I know that you will keep all of this information to yourselves , and won't share it with anybody as I asked earlier . And knowing you like I do , I can go to bed this evening safe in the knowledge that this little piece of heaven will remain just that . A little piece of heaven .
